is the swelling on the back of it? if so, its sounds like Olecranon Bursitis...
If it's hot and red, you need to get the doctor to take a look, as there may be some infection present. If its just sore and puffy then it may help to use ice pack wrapped in damp tea towel on it for 10 - 15' x4 times day, and maybe topical anti -inflammatory gel (read the directions on the pack carefully).

A good physio will be happy to take a look and advise you personally- always the best move.

My left elbow has been sore for the past week, but just today someone told me it was swollen. I looked at it and I was surprised. When I bend my elbow it looks like a golf ball is attached to it....

I hate self diagnosing but I think this is what I've got going on.

I know stretching the Groin, Hamstring and Hips helps but it flares up once in a while to the point where I can not walk or skate.

It feels like my hip flexor in the front hurts the most though. any ideas what I can do? I have no insurance so looking for stretching or blunt advice. I am out of shape but I sit at a computer all day and many nights when I get off I am too sore to walk to I sit more. I think that causes compression as mentioned above.

Heat? Hot Tub? Ice? stretch or don't stretch? I hung upside down on one of those machines that flips you upside down and holds you by the ankles and felt it stretching but when I got off it hurt worse and I went to one knee.

This sucks

sorry for the delay in replying: I hadn't checked this part of the website for some time.

if there's altered sensation along the inner side of the palm of your hand, its probably relating to the Ulnar nerve. This can be irritated at the wrist or at the elbow by direct pressure (from swelling, over use, or excessive weight-bearing amongst other things); not uncommon. It could also be caused by nerve irritation up in your neck.. get good physio to assess you, preferably when things are grumbling.

hope this helps,

Hi skpmurthy
Decisions on treatment depends on many things, including your age, the cause of the episode, how long standing it is.. you probably need to see a good spinal physio to get an accurate diagnosis prior to treatment.
Some exercise plans will make some types of back problems worse so its not wise to just give out exercises on- line.

hope you get it sorted,
David

If you have problems with the Femoral nerve, you will have pains and sometimes sensation changes on the front of your lg. you can also get muscle weakness there.
